  2. Search Engine • “If it isn’t in Google, it probably doesn’t exist.” • If you cannot find something through a search engine, you rephrase the query rather than switch to other search engines. • If you want many people to find your webpage, probably some search engine has to find you first.

  3. How SE Does Its Work • Visiting • It sends robots (spiders) all over the Internet. • A robot analyzes website content when permitted, starting from the index page. • Indexing • Based on the results, an indexer adds new web pages to a list and updates Page Ranks.

  4. Google Page Rank • A webpage is assigned by Google a page rank of from 0 to 10. • It is more like a score, since a lot of websites have the same “rank”. • Page rank has a strong effect on the order of display of the web pages.
