  2. Installation schedule for coming months CEMESTE/106: June 13th 2007 Agenda: Key milestones UXC55 Installation sequence of the cable chains +Z area installation YB0 installation schedule Impact on start of central beam pipe installation -Z area installation USC55 Electronics installation in Control area LV system installation on top of By-pass Magnet/Cryogenics area installation TX54 martin.gastal@cern.ch

  3. Key milestones • Nov2006 Dec2006 Feb2007 March2007 May2007 June2007 • Ready for crates with cooling in UXC55 X2 level • 12/12/2006 27/02/2007 06/03/2007 17/04/2007 31/05/2007 29/06/2007 • Start pre-cabling of TK • 15/05/2007 08/06/2007 • Ready to insert TK • 28/08/2007 21/09/2007 • Ready to cool down magnet • 31/08/2007 22/10/2007 • LV system ready to power YE+1 • 15/06/2007 29/06/2007 Pb with manifolds Driven by TK piping and cabletrays Compatible with LHC deadline Vacuum, cryogenics Ctrl systems commissioned Delays in routing and addressing designs martin.gastal@cern.ch

  4. Cable chains installation schedule martin.gastal@cern.ch

  5. All Main cable chains ready for fibres • 99% of Cu cables have been installed • Pipes and flexibles have been signed off • First fibres will arrive on 18/06 (MB) • Need for documentation as built. Proposed team N Dos Santos & G Duthion using pictures and cross sections views martin.gastal@cern.ch

  6. YE+ YB+ installation Original design Significant coordination effort has been made to organise YE+1 Patch panels martin.gastal@cern.ch

  7. YE+1N Patch Pannel After Before martin.gastal@cern.ch

  8. YE+1N Patch Pannel Spie Cegelec reorganised RPC cables Russian crew organised CMS cables in Patch panels martin.gastal@cern.ch Criotec installed all gas And cooling pipes

  9. Lessons learnt • Decentralised integration effort creates a fair amount of confusion • No up-to-date reference document available • Lots of on-the-flight modifications • Some cooling pipes have been modified 3 times • For the mini cable chains, a reference document will be maintained by CMS EAM Team martin.gastal@cern.ch

  10. Lessons learnt • Urgent need for As Built drawings • To keep track of all modifications made to baseline design • To be able to implement the same changes on elements still on the surface • Spie Cegelec will start on surface as soon as they have 4 consecutive days to dedicate to it • Criotec is starting this week with gas pipes • It is still possible to optimise the routing of installed cables • Big effort on designing solutions to store RPC cables • Expertise and flexibility of contractors has been precious • “YE+1 Coordination Meeting” has been the forum to review such suggestions • More to come with lack of space in cable trays and through tower floors • All tests will be logged and registered by the EAM team • Keep records of type of tests (pressure, leak), responsible, pbs encountered martin.gastal@cern.ch

  11. Now ready for fibres optics • Cabling is well under way in YE+ minicable chains • MZ will install the first fibres for CSC on 18/06 martin.gastal@cern.ch

  12. Cabling started in YBs • Criotec installed gas flexibles • Zec will soon connect the water cooling hoses • MB cables are being installed • MB fibres will be installed through main chains on 18/06 YBs not quite ready to be moved… martin.gastal@cern.ch

  13. UXC55: Racks installation Hadrelec complete the turbine cables installtion Ineo will start installing LV cables this week ZEC should complete all leak tests by 22/06 martin.gastal@cern.ch

  14. YB0 project eighth iteration Optimised schedule version 5: Milestone summary: Keys date to keep in mind martin.gastal@cern.ch

  15. YB0 +Z side Done in 10 working days including Saturdays Remaining TK sectors to be done before EB HB cabling starts In this scenario EB is installed after Sectors 1, 12, 5, and 8 are installed with TK cables martin.gastal@cern.ch

  16. YB0 +Z side In this scenario assumes 25 days for EB/HB services installation martin.gastal@cern.ch

  17. YB0 -Z side martin.gastal@cern.ch TK fibres installed before TK inserted

  18. -Z Area installation FIN 56 Beam pipe installed successfully Cabling on going martin.gastal@cern.ch Design by CMS Integration group, April 2005.

  19. USC55 : TX54 shielding martin.gastal@cern.ch

  20. USC55 : TX54 shielding • TS-IC-HM: Install concrete block on TX54 frame • Start 25/06 for 3 days • DBS • Material SAS has to be complete by then martin.gastal@cern.ch

  21. USC55 : Control Area – CMS Electronics S2 (-1) Needs for humidity control have been addressed Link now available between CV cooling plant and CMS DSS system martin.gastal@cern.ch

  22. USC55 : CMS Electronics –Temporary Ctrl room Partition walls erected General services done Temporary access ctrl installed IT services installed Ventilation to be optimised martin.gastal@cern.ch

  23. Low-Voltage system USC55 – top of bypass martin.gastal@cern.ch

  24. USC55 –LV system installation Crucial for commissioning martin.gastal@cern.ch

  25. Installation of Magnet areaA project in itself! Sequence has been under intensive review Baseline available Actors from 3 departments (AT-PH-TS) Transformers will be powered up this week martin.gastal@cern.ch

  26. Transfer line Cold Box DCCT CP1 & CP2 Discharge lines supports (design to be reviewed) 16 racks martin.gastal@cern.ch Cryo cabinets

  27. USC55- Magnet area • Transfer line and vacuum pipe installed • Discharge lines should be mechanically installed by 18/06 martin.gastal@cern.ch

  28. Areas where more scheduling effort is needed New items where scheduling effort is needed Lowering of remaining heavy elements Beam Pipe installation Magnet operation martin.gastal@cern.ch Design by CMS Integration group, April 2005.

  29. TK & Beam pipe installation: Draft Lower –Z elements when TK inserted Allows YE-1 nose In VacTank Trigger: completion of TK conn to PP1 Line 1461 All CMS elements down martin.gastal@cern.ch

  30. TK & Beam pipe installation CMS Cosmic Challenge III martin.gastal@cern.ch

  31. TK & Beam pipe installation: Very preliminary martin.gastal@cern.ch
