Redefining Wellness Her education at Kendriya Vidyalaya laid the groundwork for her academic achievements, which included clearing both pre-medical and pre-engineering entrance exams on her first attempt. Dr. Shilpi Mohan always envisioned establishing a holistic healing center that would shift the focus from illness to wellness. Guided by this vision, she Dreamed of creating a space that prioritizes preventive care and addresses the root causes of diseases. Initially, she sought support from venture capitalists to fund this ambitious project. However, recognizing the value of steady growth, she decided to start small and expand organically. Dr. Shilpi firmly believes that diseases stem from mental and physical imbalances or disharmony. “We cannot just treat a disease per se and leave the root cause unattended,” she explains. Motivated by an unwavering passion to become a heart specialist, she pursued her medical studies at Government Medical College, Jabalpur, and later achieved super-specialization in Cardiology from the prestigious Army Hospital, Research & Referral, New Delhi. Balancing her aspirations with personal challenges, Dr. Shilpi spent eight years of her early marriage living apart from her husband, an army officer, as she pursued her education. “It was his unwavering support and sacrifice during those initial days that brought me to this stage,” For her, effective care requires addressing deeper issues such as unhappiness or psychological distress. She humbly describes herself as a medium between the “Ultimate Healer” and those she serves, manifesting His will to heal and transform lives. Navigating Challenges with Grace and Resilience Her multifaceted role as a cardiologist, yoga trainer, psychic healer, tarot card reader, and chakra and crystal healer exemplifies her holistic approach to wellness. Dr. Shilpi believes in extending beyond traditional labels, emphasizing that the true force driving Dr. Shilpi's journey has been defined by her remarkable ability to navigate challenges with unwavering determination. Balancing her aspirations as a cardiologist with her responsibilities as a wife and mother has required immense adaptability.

  12. During the early years of her marriage, she focused on completing her education without interruption, even as her role as an army officer's wife brought unique challenges. Frequent postings and relocations introduced a sense of instability, yet she embraced these changes with grace. Raising two young children alongside her demanding professional life added another layer of complexity, especially when many of her peers had already moved into a different phase of parenting. Despite these challenges, Dr. Shilpi finds strength in balancing both personal and professional fronts. “I take things as they come and try to do the best I can at that point in time,” she reflects. This pragmatic approach has allowed her to grow through adversity, bringing out the best in her as a leader, healer, and mother. The way she faced these challenges head-on is a testament to resilience, demonstrating how embracing life's unpredictability can lead to personal growth and professional success. A Legacy of Inspiration For a successful leader, a journey adorned with accolades and achievements reflects their commitment to excellence in every facet of their life. So has it been for Dr. Shilpi. As a distinguished cardiologist, she has been honored with prestigious titles, including “Most Prominent Cardiologist of the Year 2019” in Secunderabad and “Enterprise Woman of the Year 2022 - Health and Wellness.” These recognitions underscore her profound impact on the field of medicine and holistic wellness. and the ripple effect of meaningful change. Whether through her pioneering work at Ashvattha Cardiac Care or her creative pursuits, Dr. Shilpi's accomplishments serve as a beacon of inspiration for those striving to leave their mark on the world. Bridging Technology and Healthcare When asked about her opinion on the developments in the AI and technology space and how she thinks these developments will impact businesses in the future, Dr. Shilpi said she views AI as an inevitable and revolutionary force reshaping education, business, and healthcare. Beyond her medical practice, Dr. Shilpi wears many hats with remarkable finesse. She is a yoga trainer, psychic healer, painter, and a regular guest columnist for The Hitavada newspaper. Her ability to inspire extends to public forums, where she has been invited as a guest speaker at esteemed national and international platforms, sharing her insights and experiences with audiences worldwide. In cardiology, the integration of AI and machine learning holds immense potential, enabling physicians to leverage vast amounts of health data from sources like wearables, genetic testing, and routine check-ups. Her achievements reflect her belief in continuous growth

  13. Moving Forward with Gratitude For Dr. Shilpi, leadership is more than just a position—it is a responsibility to inspire others to unlock their potential, overcome limitations, and chart their own paths to success. True leadership, she believes, lies in guiding others to strive for their best while moving beyond fears and challenges. Her philosophy extends beyond personal success, focusing on leaving a lasting impact on others' lives. Her personal mantra encapsulates this outlook: “Lead a life, not just a successful one but a significant one.” This belief drives her to pursue not just professional excellence but also meaningful contributions to society, shaping her legacy as a compassionate and purpose- driven leader. Being featured as the cover story for Her Vision, Her Legacy: A Tribute to Women Business Leaders holds profound significance for Dr. Shilpi. She sees this recognition as not merely a personal achievement but a testament to the collective progress of women in breaking barriers and inspiring transformative change in workplaces and businesses worldwide. These advancements will empower cardiologists to predict cardiovascular risks with greater accuracy, flagging issues before they become clinically significant. With data-driven insights, personalized prevention plans tailored to genetics, lifestyle, and environmental factors can significantly enhance patient outcomes. “This recognition acknowledges the hard work and resilience that have been constants in the ever-changing landscape of my life,” she reflects. This accomplishment is both a milestone and a reminder for Dr. Shilpi to keep moving forward. Her life's purpose is clear: “I want to be a billionaire by touching a billion hearts, helping them by bringing about a change in their lives.” It is this vision that continues to shape her journey, as she strives to leave an indelible mark on the world through her leadership, empathy, and unwavering resolve. However, Dr. Shilpi emphasizes that technology should complement, not replace, the human connection in medicine. She underscores the irreplaceable value of empathy, trust, and meaningful communication between doctors and patients. This personal touch is particularly vital in preventive cardiology, where lifestyle changes require sustained motivation and collaboration. Dr. Shilpi Mohan's journey is a powerful reminder that leadership is about more than success; it's about creating significance. Through her work at Ashvattha Cardiac Care and her holistic approach to wellness, she exemplifies what it means to lead with purpose. Looking ahead, Dr. Shilpi envisions a hybrid model of care that combines the convenience of remote consultations and monitoring with the nuanced understanding gained through in-person interactions. Such a balance will preserve the human essence of healthcare while harnessing the efficiency of technology, creating a future where innovation and empathy coexist seamlessly. For aspiring leaders and dreamers, Dr. Shilpi's story is a call to action: to dream boldly, act compassionately, and strive for a life that leaves an indelible mark on the world.

  17. Madeline Mordarski Chief Marketing Officer The Keyes Company O good at it. But as the person tries their luck in different sectors, they find it very easy to make it big in that as well. ften times we come across someone who has niched a particular field and is actually There are numerous stories around us today, especially in sports, entertainment, politics, and even in local businesses that follow the same script again and again. However, one field where you find it rare is the real estate. There is either heritage or pure enthusiasm for people and property. A leader carved in the transition of modern-day business but trained by the old guards of tradition is Madeline Mordarski, who is shaping, influencing, and taking the real-estate industry to a different level. Being the Chief Marketing Officer of The Keyes Company, sheoverviews the current landscape of the real- estate space and also shares what it takes to be influential, wherever you go. In this edition, let's have a look at that and some highlights from her exclusive interview. Madeline Mordarski A Digital Marketer Making It Big in the Real-Estate Space 1. Could you please share a brief overview of your career journey and how you became the CMO of Keyes? I've had a non-traditional career journey, although that seems more and more common these days. Right out of 30 | FEBRUARY 2025 | WWW.GLOBALPUBLICIST24.COM

  18. business school, I started a digital marketing company within the health and wellness industry. At the time, brands were first grasping the idea that content was currency and social data could be harnessed for personalization and better decision-making in acquisition programs and lead nurturing - needless to say, there was a void in the market, and it was a clear opportunity to fill. From there, I spent seven years at Compass, developing creative and scalable strategies within both marketing and business operations and building teams from the ground up. I met Christina Pappas, the president of Keyes, eight months before joining, and both she and the company made a lasting impression on me. Christina has aggressive market share and agent growth goals through 2030 for Keyes and was looking for a CMO to aid in this strategy while building the next generation of her family's four-generation company - it was a natural and exciting move to make; I'm honored to be here. marketing efforts without driving additional overhead. The reality of a down market is that there's a need to drive revenue while controlling costs. Thanks to technology like AI and automation, we're able to achieve that. Finally, we're currently underway a huge effort, unveiling this November, to ensure our nearly 100-year- old company is well positioned to thrive for the next 100 years. 4. What advice would you give to aspiring real estate leaders looking to make an impact in the industry? There are opportunities to be had in a challenging market. If all you're doing is playing defense, you aren't taking advantage of those opportunities. That means taking decisive actions and often using a hypothesis- based approach to test before going all in. Finally, be a sponge and focus on data and insights from everyone around you, from customers to peers and competitors. After all, everyone you meet will know something you don't. 2. What inspired you to pursue a career in real estate, and what keeps you motivated? My ingress point was joining a tech company that operated in the real estate space, and while the industry wasn't my primary motivator, the idea of revolutionizing a relatively stagnant industry was intriguing. A lot has changed since then, both within the industry and in my passion for it. Real estate is an incredibly complex and dynamic industry, and the players within it are creative and steadfast in navigating every period of chaos, from market crashes to the current shifting dynamics after the NAR settlement. I believe that this is because, at its core, real estate is about entrepreneurship and self-actualization. 3. Can you share some of the most impactful projects Keyes has completed under your leadership? We have a really exciting roadmap this year, and the team has already put out incredible work from revamping our luxury pitch and materials to creating tools that help associates provide value to their customers; like many brokerages, we spent much of Q1 and Q2 perfecting our buyer representation presentation and a toolkit to aid associates in the changing market. Beyond that, we're focused on creating capacity and doubling down on Madeline Mordarski and Keyes Company CEO, Michael Pappas 31 | FEBRUARY 2025 | WWW.GLOBALPUBLICIST24.COM

  19. 5. How would you describe your leadership style, and what strategies do you use to lead your team effectively? 6. In your opinion, what are the most significant trends shaping the real estate industry in 2024? Several notable trends are reshaping the landscape. One is a heightened emphasis on personalization and value-driven interactions. Additionally, there's a key focus on housing affordability. Because of this, an agent's role as a trusted advisor who can communicate market insights and support risk mitigation is more important than ever. I'm a huge proponent of hiring talented people, giving them clear strategic direction, and then letting them be great at what they do so that we can deliver on our commitments. That comes from empowerment, trust, and the encouragement to stay curious and be bold. While change and innovation can be nerve-wracking, so much positive energy comes from doing things that make you feel slightly uncomfortable. It doesn't always work out, but as a team, we are willing to fail forward and recognize that learning what doesn't work is just as important as learning what does work. 7. How do you think technological advancements are impacting the real estate industry? Technology is undeniably changing how people buy and 32 | FEBRUARY 2025 | WWW.GLOBALPUBLICIST24.COM

  20. sell - and consequently, how agents conduct business. While there are clear applications in analyzing market data and personalization, at its most basic level, it can take away some of the most menial and administrative tasks, giving back time to focus on the more human elements of their roles. As a marketer, the advancements in Generative AI are fascinating and a clear way to unlock creative possibilities. having recently celebrated one year in remission. My diagnosis changed my life and perspective, leading me on a path to serve as an advocate for other survivors. 9. How do you balance the demands of your role with your personal life? Real estate can be an "always on" industry, so I try to be steadfast in making time for the things I care about and disconnecting. That looks different every week, but I generally stick to a routine every morning, making time for mindfulness, exercise, and a bit of reading. 8. Outside of your professional life, what are your hobbies and interests? I'm an avid scuba diver and equestrian and feel incredibly thankful to live in Miami, Florida, where I can ride and dive regularly. I'm also a cancer survivor, 10. Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers about your journey? My journey was made possible by people who took a chance on me and mentors who helped me along the way. Three leaders in particular—Victoria Coster, Andrew Terman, and Alexie Elfmont—advocated for me during both the highs and lows of my early career, and for that, I’m forever thankful. Similarly, the most meaningful moments of my experience were when I could do the same for others. When a door opens, don't be afraid to walk through it and do the work to prove you belong in that room. Then, watch for others who have budding insights and potential, and figure out if there’s a door you can open for them in turn. Mentorship and elevating the voices of other up-and-coming leaders are critical to creating a better future. 11. What does it mean to you to be recognized as one of the "Most Impactful Real Estate Leaders in 2024"? There are incredibly talented people in the industry, and being recognized is a great honor. It acknowledges the hard work and dedication of my team in driving innovation and change within the industry, which is especially exciting given Keyes' longstanding legacy in the industry. 33 | FEBRUARY 2025 | WWW.GLOBALPUBLICIST24.COM

  21. W inspire a world of change.” “ hen women lead with purpose, they This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the journey of Paula Cardoso, a leader who has dedicated her life to empowering Black professionals, reshaping narratives, and advocating for racial equality in Portugal. As the Founder of Afrolink, Paula has become a driving force in creating visibility, inclusion, and representation for Black individuals across various industries. Her unwavering commitment to fostering change and dismantling systemic barriers makes her a true visionary. Paula Cardoso Founder Afrolink Paula shares her journey from Mozambique, where she was born on July 7, 1979. Shortly after, her mother, two sisters, and she moved to Portugal to join her father. While growing up in a European environment, the vibrant Mozambican culture and values played a crucial role in shaping her identity. She finds great inspiration in her nation's significant milestones, especially the struggle for independence and the remarkable leadership of their first president, Samora Machel. The rich flavors of their cuisine and the vibrant rhythms of their music are not just her personal favorites; they are essential elements that strengthen her connection to her roots and heritage. 22. Paula's family created a nurturing environment during her formative years. The weekend gatherings with her uncles and cousins fostered a deep sense of community and belonging. “The function, the very serious function of racism is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being. Somebody says you have no language, and you spend twenty years proving that you do. Somebody says your head isn't shaped properly, so scientists work on the fact that it is. Somebody says you have no art, so you dredge that up. Somebody says you have no kingdoms, so you dredge that up. None of this is necessary. There will always be one more thing.” Reflecting on her upbringing, Paula admires her parents' resilience as immigrants in a country that had colonized their homeland. They built a thriving community that celebrated their heritage, and Paula is dedicated to carrying that legacy forward with pride and purpose. “We often invoke Samora Machel's powerful words, “A luta continua,” which translates to “The struggle continues” for us, the black people,” Paula expressed. The people in Mozambique had become increasingly aware of the challenges posed by racism from the Portuguese. In response, they aimed to embrace life fully while working together to overcome the obstacles they faced. There was also a growing desire to foster trust and improve relations, as many viewed the Portuguese as untrustworthy. By addressing these issues, there was hope for a more positive and collaborative future. In the early 1980s, when her family arrived in Portugal from Mozambique, her elders adopted a survival strategy centered around community. They chose to keep everything within their circle, remaining largely disconnected from the outside world. The only white individuals welcomed into their homes were those with African backgrounds or connections established in Mozambique. Paula and her family actively sought Portuguese citizenship, recognizing its importance in securing additional rights and protections. Their goal was not about identity, about feeling Portuguese, but rather about ensuring access to a broader range of opportunities and rights that come with being a part of the Portuguese community. They sought Portuguese citizenship, understanding that lacking it would limit their opportunities. At that time, they didn't engage in discussions about racism because the elders recognized it was ultimately futile and draining. They understood that such conversations detracted from living fully. Perhaps they resonated with Toni Morrison's profound observation: 37 | FEBRUARY 2025 | WWW.GLOBALPUBLICIST24.COM

  23. construct a more inclusive narrative moving forward, one that values equity and respect for all individuals regardless of their background. It's enlightening to reflect on the fact that none of her parents' friends were white Portuguese. They had colleagues at work, but those relationships never extended to personal gatherings in their homes. Recently, Paula has come to appreciate how predominantly black and African their environment was, and she recognizes the value of being part of a culture rich in joy, love, and celebration. While politics may not have played a significant role in the past, it has certainly become a vital aspect of their conversations today. In the past, Paula and her family may not have used the term “racism,” yet the practice was widespread. Acknowledging this reality can help them better understand the issue and work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society. Paula's generation is actively advocating for recognition as Portuguese citizens. Even if their identities don't align with traditional notions of being Portuguese, they have every right to claim their nationality and pursue their place in society. That's why Paula was educated to excel, to be “perfect”, and to always perform ten times better than her white peers. This was, and unfortunately still is, the only way for black people to navigate through life. This is a positive and transformative moment in Portugal, as black individuals are now courageously demanding not just recognition on paper, but a rightful place within the national narrative. Paula highlights a vital perspective: her parents received their education during the colonial era, and their experiences greatly influenced their views on belonging. They witnessed the harsh realities of Portuguese rule, which shaped her father's belief that white people often struggled to recognize Black individuals as equals and fellow human beings. Those who have traveled to Portugal, particularly to Lisbon, can observe the diversity within society. However, despite this evident diversity, there seems to be an unspoken “whites only” rule when it comes to recognizing national figures in the television shows, newspapers, politics, and companies. This perspective led him to encourage Paula and her siblings to question the necessity of fitting into a system that had historically marginalized them. Portuguese society has an opportunity to address and engage with the important issue of racial inequality. While many black Portuguese individuals experience challenges related to systemic barriers, acknowledging these realities is a crucial step toward creating a more inclusive society. Understanding this context is crucial. Paula's father observed the oppression faced by Black people during colonialism, where they were systematically rendered powerless in their own country. Acknowledging these historical experiences can help us 38 | FEBRUARY 2025 | WWW.GLOBALPUBLICIST24.COM

  24. To shed light on this matter, Paula founded the Afrolink network, as there is currently a lack of data on ethnicity in Portugal. By collecting and sharing information, they can better understand the challenges faced by marginalized communities. Although it may be difficult to confront these issues, embracing knowledge and open dialogue is essential for fostering positive change and building a brighter future for everyone. Paula's mission is to highlight the diverse achievements of black professionals across all fields, demonstrating that their community extends far beyond roles such as cleaners, construction workers, or restaurant staff. maintain power. By shedding light on these issues, we can foster understanding and promote positive change. It's important to examine how Portugal was involved in the transatlantic slave trade and the implications of colonialism. There is a common narrative suggesting that the Portuguese were “good colonizers” due to their interactions with local women, but this perspective can be misleading. It is essential for the educational curriculum to include diverse viewpoints on this topic. The interactions between colonizers and local populations were often characterized by exploitation rather than mutual respect. While these occupations are valuable, it's important to recognize that they have much more to offer and deserve to be seen in a broader context. Often, the perception persists that predominantly white spaces result from a shortage of qualified black professionals. Through Afrolink, Paula seeks to reshape this narrative by showcasing the accomplishments of black individuals in various areas of expertise. This not only emphasizes their capabilities but also fosters greater understanding and appreciation within the broader community. By acknowledging the complexities of these historical events, people can foster a more accurate understanding of their past and work towards a more inclusive and equitable narrative. “It's not just about visualizing our identities and actions; it's also about actively voicing our concerns and seeking inclusion. By speaking up, we can ensure that our perspectives are recognized and valued,” Paula shares. It is not that hard as today everyone has access to various historians and sources that provide valuable insights into the Portuguese colonial legacy and the targeted suppression of black resistance. It's important to communicate clearly, and Paula recognizes that there's room for improvement. Alongside sharing their personal stories, she is committed to educating others about their history. Paula's work focuses on raising awareness about the black experience, helping people understand how racism has shaped the society. This knowledge allows people to engage in meaningful discussions about reparations and In Portugal, there is a lack of awareness regarding how racism has been historically used to generate profit and 39 | FEBRUARY 2025 | WWW.GLOBALPUBLICIST24.COM

In her educational work at schools, she strives to deconstruct racist narratives and encourage critical thinking among younger generations, as it's often easier to cultivate these insights early on. Paula envisions a future where this topic is integrated into the curriculum, but achieving this requires greater political commitment, along with initiatives to start collecting data on ethnicity. There is a prevailing perception among many politicians that while some individuals may harbor racist views, the country itself does not have a systemic issue with racism. Concepts such as structural racism and discussions about reparations are often overlooked. This reality inspires Paula to take action. It's disheartening to see younger people adopting the same prejudiced behaviors she encountered while growing up, as it feels like revisiting a painful chapter in their history. Paula believes everyone can transform this shared trauma into an opportunity for growth. It's essential for Portugal to confront its past and foster an environment of responsibility and accountability. This journey is not about placing blame; rather, it's about collectively working towards understanding and healing. to envision and work toward brighter futures for all. In this journey, Paula honors her ancestors, who had their voices silenced and their lives taken. As a black woman, she encounters additional layers of exclusion, which have led her to reflect deeply on gender inequalities as part of her broader quest for justice. Paula is proud to work under the Afrolink umbrella, an initiative that she founded to address the urgent need for diverse perspectives in journalism. With nearly 20 years of experience as a reporter in Portugal, where she often found herself as the only Black journalist in the room, she became acutely aware of how misinformation and division can be fueled through media narratives. Initially, Paula's focus was primarily on asserting her humanity in a society that often overlooks people like her. Today, she champions black feminism because many feminists in Portugal still do not recognize the unique challenges they face. “My aim is not to cast blame but to encourage dialogue and understanding,” Paula expressed. It's essential that people recognize the subtle and overt racism present in the stories that the children and youth encounter. Afrolink seeks to change this by providing a humanized and nuanced perspective on Black lives. By sharing these important stories, Paula hopes to reshape the narrative and foster understanding, creating a more inclusive media landscape in Portugal. It's crucial for individuals with privilege to leverage that privilege to uplift others. By fostering constructive conversations, Paula hopes to inspire positive change and challenge those who may not yet see their role in this important movement. “Together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable society.” Let's consider a recent example: last October, the community faced the tragic loss of another unarmed Black man, Odair Moniz, who was shot by a police officer. How? Paula delivers lectures and workshops focused on how racism is woven into the fabric of Portuguese 40 | FEBRUARY 2025 | WWW.GLOBALPUBLICIST24.COM

  26. Recognizing the tendency of mainstream media to focus on the victim's past in ways that could justify the shooting, Paula decided to take a different approach. She visited Odair's community, spoke with his family and friends, and uncovered the beautiful love story he shared with Monica, his widow. By highlighting this personal narrative, we can better appreciate the value of his life and foster a deeper understanding of the impact of racism in the society. It's important to remember that every individual has a story that deserves to be told and acknowledged. While the journey can be challenging, Paula is dedicated to harnessing the power of words and positive narratives to cultivate love in her communities, steering clear of the trap of hate. Prioritizing love is essential in combating racism. Paula's parents laid the groundwork for this movement among friends and family, and she is proud to carry it forward through her activism. In this spirit, she co-hosts a podcast with another inspiring Black woman, Georgina Angélica. They invite predominantly Black guests to share their life journeys, focusing on personal growth rather than professional success. They draw motivation from bell hooks' book All About Love, which guides their discussions. Paula considers her most significant achievement to be the daily practice of nurturing her self-love and embracing the understanding that she is enough and worthy. Paula truly believes there is a significant opportunity to produce impactful content that highlights the richness of black culture and history, fostering a greater sense of presence and relevance within the Portuguese society. While she currently has a platform on RTP África, which is the only Portuguese channel that embraces black voices, she sees the potential for expanding this representation. “There is so much to celebrate—black thought, history, legacies, and rituals—that deserves more visibility. It's the right time to bring these stories to the forefront,” she adds. While it may seem small, this realization is a vital step in the struggle for liberation. When faced with messages of inferiority, one may unconsciously begin to adopt a limiting mindset. However, Paula now challenges herself to think big and believe in her capacity to achieve anything she sets her mind on. “Together, we can inspire others to do the same,” she adds. As Paula reflects on the progress made in the five years since launching Afrolink, she is grateful to know that she is part of a vibrant community of incredible individuals who are eager to build this next chapter together. Paula's next ambition, following the creation of Afrolink and her authorship of the children's book “Força Africana”, as well as hosting the TV show “Rumos” on RTP África, is to develop her own TV shows and channel. Paula is also planning to start this journey on YouTube, and she is excited to see where it leads. “With collaboration and shared vision, we can rise and thrive collectively,” Paula concludes. 41 | FEBRUARY 2025 | WWW.GLOBALPUBLICIST24.COM
