  1. Legal Experts At John Grasso Provides Feedback On Underaged Marriages When it comes to any divorce-related matter, there is hardly any team more knowledgeable than the team of divorce lawyers at John Grasso based in Rhode Island. Recently, there has been a lot of controversies caused by the group referring to themselves as “Unchained at Last”. The group is advocating for a ban against child marriages. Currently, underage marriages are still legal in 46 states across the nation. This is not only a concern to lawmakers but also those in child protective services. The impact of these underaged marriages tallied up to 200,000 minors who had to enter into marriage over the fifteen years between 2000 and 2015. Of this group, 5% were younger than 15 years old and they are mostly forced into wedded bliss with adults. This means that children that are younger than the legal age to give consent for sexual activity are now in situations where they got married to an adult. In recent history, there has been consent given to children as young as 12 years old, to get married. The states of South Carolina, Alaska, and Louisiana granted these marriage licenses. While Florida, Idaho, Alabama, Kentucky, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Tennessee, and Washington granted children at the age of 13 years marriage licenses. The team of divorce lawyers in Rhode Island state their concern regarding this matter as the clients that are calling on them for their expert legal advice to end their marriages are adults and they have the freedom of choice, these children mostly don’t have this freedom to live the kind of lives they wish. This marriage trap often rather represents slavery than a loving bond. Over the recent months, various teams of lawmakers in Rhode Island listened to endless stories of women and how they suffered when often parents forced them into these childhood marriages. These women spoke up from a position where they were powerless and cast out by those who had to protect them and look after their needs and their wellbeing. These stories ripped through the hearts of not only criminal lawyers but also those who are in child protective services. These stories would include horror tales of young girls who would wake up in the morning and then meet the husbands whom they would have to marry that night. They would then need to immediately consummate their marriage and had no choice in the entire situation. Often these girls experience rape, abduction and had to suffer through several pregnancies. Another major concern when it comes to the legality of underaged marriages is that these married kids would become easy prey to child trafficking rings. It is simply a disastrous state to be in and one that seems to have no hope. The concerned team of lawyers at John Grasso is therefore elated by the support that the local governor of Rhode Island, Dan McKee is giving to the outcry to ban this marriage from the state. This would provide girls younger than 18 years of age the safety of the law, keeping them protected when those who were supposed to protect them fail or even sells them out to the highest bidder. Another point that the John Grasso team highlights are the fact that both marriage and divorce should be a matter of consent between adults and in neither case, you should take away the choice of freedom
