1. Scaphoid Fracture One of the carpal bones of the wrist is the scaphoid bone. It is located on the thumb side of the wrist, halfway between the hand and the forearm. The carpal tunnel's radial boundary is formed by it. The scaphoid bone, whose long axis extends from above below, laterally, and forward, is the largest bone in the proximal row of wrist bones. It roughly resembles a medium-sized cashew in both size and shape. The transverse carpal ligament attaches to the scaphoid's concave palmar surface via a distal tubercle that forms. The proximal surface is convex, triangular, and smooth. The radial collateral ligament is attached to the side's thin surface. The lunate and a flattened semi-lunar facet articulates with the medial surface's two facets. Symptoms and Causes: symptoms include soreness at the base of the thumb that gets worse when using one's hand. There may be swelling and overall tenderness in the anatomic snuffbox. Nonunion of the fracture, avascular necrosis of the proximal section of the bone, and arthritis are possible complications. The most frequent reason for scaph fractures is falling on an extended hand. Treatments: Clinical examination and medical imaging are typically combined to get a diagnosis. In simple X-rays, some fractures can not be seen. In these situations, the damaged area may be immobilised in a cast or splint and checked with new X-rays after two weeks.
