  2. Animal Antics • The session is pre-booked for Pre-schools and Year R. • Hands-on • Lead by a trained demonstrator. • For 2 hours. • Ratio of minimum 1 adult to 4 children.

  3. Session Objectives • To introduce young children to museums. • To give children an opportunity to experience the 5 elements of play: constructive play, explorative play, pretend play, games, and physical play. • To cover elements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum : Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication, Language and Literacy, Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy, Knowledge and Understanding of the World, Physical Development, Creative Development.

  4. Session Introduction Exploration Bags – What is in the Bag? This activity is undertaken in small groups. Each group has an object from the collection in a bag and they have to gain as much information as possible about it initially through touch then sight.

  5. The Activities • Undertaken in small groups in any order. • 11 numbered and colour coded activities. • In 3 spaces/rooms. • Check list of activities provided for adults to record what the group has done.

  6. Room 1 • Bug sorting • Make a minibeast finger puppet • Snap or Pairs • Tunnel Time and Make a Flying Visit • Rhyme Time

  7. Room 2 • Who am I? • Magnificent Magnifiers • Feely Bags • Story Time

  8. Room 3 • Crazy Creature Connections • Make an animal
