Greening Government Operations Targets • The targets under the GGO section are for the following activities; • Green Procurement • Electronic Waste Disposal • Managed Print • Paper Consumption • Carbon-Neutral Major Events • Green Meetings • GHG Reduction Target – fleet • Contaminated Sites • GHG Reduction Target – buildings • Green Buildings

  5. Green Buildings • New construction, build-to-lease projects, and major renovation projects will achieve a minimum level of environmental performance. • Apply best efforts to assess existing crown buildings, over 1000m2, using an industry-recognized assessment tool to identify opportunities for environmental improvements • Best efforts will be applied to all fit-up and refit projects to achieve a minimum level of environmental performance that would be recognized by industry-based tools

  6. GHG Reduction Target – buildings • By March 31, 2021, reduce energy greenhouse gas emissions from federal buildings by 13% government-wide from 2006-07 base year levels • The 13% target is still under negotiation and may change

  7. Environmental Management Role • To assist other custodians (Real Property, Materiel Management) to meet each target • Responsible for coordinating the collection of data to report to PWGSC on each target • Communicate the targets in the strategy to the responsible custodian • Awareness campaigns to employees about the targets
