  2. Horizon Line • All landscapes, seascapes & cityscapes have a HORIZON Line. • The horizon line is usually a horizontal line in the picture. • It is not always flat. Why? • Where is this picture’s horizon line?

  3. Can you find the Vanishing Point?

  4. Vanishing Point Every picture, inside or outdoors has one or two vanishing points; you just don’t see them in the finished piece.

  9. In a cityscape the horizon line is usually Buildings.

  10. Seascapes

  11. In a seascape the horizon line is usually water or things in or on the water.

  13. In a landscape the horizon line is usually made from trees, hills, mountains or other natural or man-made objects.

Space We use the ELEMENT of SPACE to make a 2-D picture look 3-D by; • Making objects close to the viewer larger and objects farther away smaller. • Show a background, middle ground and foreground in your picture. • Closer objects will overlap objects farther away. • Colors become lighter as the background recedes. • Showing shadows and reflections in the picture.

  16. 8th Grade Instructions • Draw a rough draft of a “scape” picture in • your sketchbook or on manila paper. • Draw a cityscape, landscape or seascape and include a horizon line on good paper. • Include at least 3 objects that show 1 point • perspective. Ex building, car, boat etc… • Use water color or tempera cakes to • complete your good copy. Complete a neat finished copy , cleanup daily & complete rubric.
