The South America First Regional Meeting on Land Use Planning, held on March 26, 2010, in Lima, Peru, aimed to establish a collaborative network among land use planning coordinators from various countries. This meeting focused on addressing the technical support needs of governments and regional bodies in policy decision-making. Key objectives included evaluating existing geographical databases, standardizing data across the region, and developing planning tools to support local populations. Regular meetings and annual workshops were proposed to foster effective communication and collaboration among network members.

The land use planning coordinators are the foundation for technical support for other field coordinators, as well as, for achieving the goals as they are outlined in the new CI mission. Position remarks

We envision effective collaboration between field division land use planning coordinators to support governments and local populations to design resilient landscapes Vision
To achieve effective support and communication between network members to develop and implement proven methodologies, planning tools and data standards, and to collaborate on regional projects. Objective
Evaluate existing and proven GDB designs and tools in field division offices. • Standardize geographical databases across the region. • Assess the spatial planning needs of current national and regional CI projects for supporting government planning offices at several levels. Outputs FY11
