The Degraded Image

In a unique artistic endeavor, I transformed a photograph by subjecting it to various techniques to evoke emotions and explore the concept of decay. The process began with marking the subjects' faces using a black Sharpie, followed by burning the edges of the image. Despite spraying it with bleach and scrubbing it, the photograph remained intact. I then traced around the figures with keys and tore the image into pieces. Finally, I arranged the torn segments onto red tissue paper, crumpled the creation, and captured its new form, resulting in a striking final product.

  2. I took this image…

  3. First, I took a black Sharpie and drew on their faces.

  4. Next, I burned the edges of the picture.

  5. After burning the edges, I sprayed the picture with Bleach.

  6. I then scrubbed the image. But nothing happened to it…so…

  7. …I traced around the people with my keys.

  8. The fifth step I took was tearing the image up into pieces.

  9. Then, I took my torn pieces and pasted them onto red tissue paper.

  10. My next step was crumpling up the image.

  11. I took a picture of the crumpled up image.

  12. My final step was to take the image and rearrange it. This is the final product.
