  2. Cabot’s Beginning and End • Cabot was born in Genoa Italy. • He died in 1499. • His real name was Giovanni Caboto.

  3. Cabot’s Homes • He lived in Venice , Italy in .1476 • He moved to Bristol , England. • August 1497 Cabot went back to Bristol.

  4. First Explorations • He believed he could reach Asia by going west. • He convinced King Henry 7th England didn’t need to sit while the Spaniards helped the New world. • Even though Spain had control, Henry liked Cabot’s idea.

  5. Exploration Begins • King Henry paid Cabot for an exploration to begin. • Cabot sailed again with 18 men on the small ship Matthew. • They reached North America on June 24,1497

  6. They Landed • They explored the coast which is now Canada, at either New found land and Labrador or Nova or Scotia. • The ship may have found what is now Maine.
