  1. Action Plan Ms. Imtiaz Nasim The City School Social Studies Grade V

  2. Long Term Goal: • Adopt 21st century teaching methodologies an activity based learning programme. • To make social studies subject more interesting for the students observations.

  3. Short Term Goals: • Warm up activities before the introduction of the topics. • Focus on group and individual activities to develop students interest in the subject. • To promote critical thinking by questioning technique. • Project work. • Model making. • Picture collection related to the topics.

  4. Instructional Strategies & Tasks • I will plan activities, to develop students interest. • I will provide students with time for group discussions. • I will plan objective questions to help them retain facts and details. • I will encourage them to read the text thoroughly for better retention.

  5. Solutions to Anticipated Challenges: Challenges Solutions • Some students may not take part in discussion. • Some will avoid reading the text at home. • Some will avoid making projects. • Focus on the students who are not active. • Make them read the text in the class. • Encourage to work in groups.

  6. Application of Bloom’s Taxonomy: Learning of the topics will be divided into three categories. Knowledge. Skills. Attitude. Learning of these categories will be judged as: After reading an explanation students will recall facts and information verbally or as written assignments. Making projects diagrams, map work and model making will demonstrate their skills. Working single in pairs or in groups tells what new skills and attitude the students have acquired while planning, designing or constructing models and projects.

NEWSLETTER – Class V News By: Ms. Imtiaz April 12, 2011 WHAT HAPPENED IN CLASS THIS WEEK: • Student learned about water and irrigation in social studies • In math's student learned about equations and percentage. • Students also wrote and recited their own poems. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN CLASS NEXT WEEK • Students project work on agriculture is due on Monday. • Student will begin model making on solar system on Wednesday.Please help your child to gather different color balls for the planets. • Student will have an oral mental math's test on Thursday. • Remind your child to revise and practice.

  8. Timeline: August: I will start this programme from the new session. September & October: I will introduce all my mentioned short term goals in the class. November & December: I will successfully achieve 21st century teaching methodologies in my subject.

  9. Resources: • Internet. • Library books. • Spread sheet applications. • Multimedia worksheets. • Colleagues to teach the same subjects.

  10. Conclusion: • By implementing my newly adopted 21st century teaching methodologies students will be empowered to develop the interest and will gain better knowledge of the subject.
