  2. Graduates of the Last Decade • GOLD Affinity Group created in 1996 • Aimed at retention of graduating IEEE members • Peer group of recent graduates and young engineers • Regular members, sometimes graduate students • Focus on the needs of young professionals

Proceed with a Purpose • GOLD Vision: • “IEEE GOLD will be the global community of enthusiastic, dynamic, and innovative young professionals engaged for the benefit of humanity.” • GOLD Mission: • “To inspire, energize, empower, and engage young professionals to envision and realize their dreams.”

GOLD Goals: • “Developing young professionals: Young professionals are the reason for our very existence - we are passionate about helping young professionals to develop personally, professionally, and technically” • “Innovation: We embrace creative thinking and innovative ideas” • “Voice & Visibility: We strive to ensure the voice and visibility of young professionals around the world” • “The World Around Us: We have a passion for the world around us and all that IEEE stands for. We embrace diversity, member engagement, and cooperation to inspire solutions for the benefit of humanity” • “Fun & Friendships: We celebrate our youthful energy and spirit through the fun we have and the friendships we make”

Value to GOLD Members • Provide recent graduates with professional and personal development opportunities • We provide value to the young professional demographic and a home where they feel welcome • Network opportunities between GOLD and other professionals in all member grades • Explore different areas of professional development, such as, • Career Development • Leadership • Complement non-technical interests in general • Financial Management • Time Management • Health

Young engineers need to know… • GOLD is a place were professionals of various disciplines come together

Possible Events? • How can we introduce GOLD members to the activities and interests of IEEE System Council? • Social events with some technical flavor • Guidance on the systems engineering career path • Continuing education in systems engineering and related fields • STEP events, introducing new graduates to Systems Engineering, as they enter the professional world • Workshops for young professionals, touching on topics relevant to Systems, hence to all engineers, such as: • Risk Management • Project Management • Robust Design • The “ilities” • Human Factors • SysML • System Dynamics • …and so on.
