Community Learning in FLES Class: Projects and Presentations

This quarter in FLES class, we will explore "La comunidad" (The Community). Your child will learn about key elements like places, professions, and transportation methods within the community. After completing the lessons, students will create and present a community map on a poster, utilizing vocabulary learned during class. They may also choose to make a video or PowerPoint presentation. Class time will be dedicated to project planning, and students should practice at home to prepare for their presentations. Extra credit is available for identifying community places in Spanish with a note from parents.

  1. Dear Parents: • For this quarter in FLES class, we will cover the theme of The Community (La comunidad.) Your child will learn about (1) Places (2) Professions, and (3) Means of transportation in the community. After all the lessons have been completed on this theme your child will be asked to create and label a map of a community on a poster and present it to the class using the vocabulary learned in FLES class. If your child desires to make something else for his/her presentation in addition to the poster, they may. Ideas include making a PowerPoint, a video, etc. • Students will begin their projects in class and will present during the next FLES class. Please have students finish anything not completed in class and practice at home. • The sentences below, which will be covered in class are here for your information.
