  1. Dear Parents, • We are delighted that your child is having piano lessons at PBS and would like to inform you of the following important points. • Curriculum • After learning the basics, students will follow the ABRSM syllabus and will have the • opportunity to sit the exams if you would like them to. This syllabus is broad and develops a wide range of musical skills. The exams are highly regarded musical qualifications and by passing each grade you earn points towards future University entrance. • Reports • Reports will be issued in October , March and June but you are of course welcome to contact us to discuss their progress at any time. • Parental Involvement • The children who make the most rapid progress are those whose parents are actively involved with their instrumental practice . You can help your child to achieve their potential by • Checking and signing their practice diary each week • Encouraging them to practice little and often • Listening to them play at least once a week • Ensuring that they bring their instrument/music on the correct day • Students must have a piano or keyboard at home to practise on • Payment • Payment is made by direct bank transfer to avoid students bringing large amounts of money to school. • Payment is made at the beginning of each half term. • If the teacher is absent you will not have to pay for that week and it will be carried over • to the next half term. • If a student knows in advance that they will be absent from school we are informed the better so that • the timetable for that day can be rearranged. • If a student is going to miss a lesson because of illness we must be informed by 8.00 on the day of the • lesson – the simplest way to do this is to directly text the piano teacher. If we are not informed by 8.00 • unfortunately the lesson will be lost. • If a child is ill during the day they should try to let the Music Department know that they will not be present for their lesson before leaving the building. • If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at ailsa.frazer@pbschool.cz . • We look forward to working with your child and following their progress! • Miss A.J. Frazer (Head of Music)
