  1. September 2011 Elementary Griffin Gazette • Dear Parents, • It’s hard to believe that yesterday we completed the first two weeks of school at Southern Highlands Prep! All I can say is what a privilege it is to serve your children and our awesome school community. Seeing your children here at school is a daily reminder of why we do the work we do—we love children. Your children! • Here are some snippets of the past couple of weeks that have warmed my heart. • Onna in Kindergarten greeting me on the very first day of school with the biggest smile and hug ever saying, “Hi Miss Tina! You colored your hair!” • Visiting Mrs. McClain’s Kindergarten class during art and asking them if they knew who I was. To which Jackson proudly responded, “You’re the bus driver!” Followed by Tatiana saying, “She’s the principal!” “Your right” I said, “I’m the principal/bus driver.” To which they all in unison nodded their heads “yes” and smiled. • All the second grade moms happily helping our students and teachers with their great big gooey gloppy Paper Mache globe project in the art room. • The teachers and staff spending countless hours before and after school working to ensure that our students have a positive learning experience. • Parent emails, phone calls and visits communicating support and suggestions all in the name of improving our school. • The list could go on and on… • Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone! • Sincerely, • Ms. Tina BaronePrincipal/Bus Driver : ) September Sept. 5 Labor Day—No School Sept. 7 PAC Meeting: 8:45 am Sept. 9 Student Council Speeches & Elections Sept. 12 Middle School Pot Luck & Parent Night Sept. 16 NJHS Inductions and Summer AR, 9 am Sept. 21 Elementary Back to School Night 6 pm Sept. 23 School Store Sept. 26 Progress Reports sent out Sept. 30 Free Dress Day PLEASE USE CAUTION IN OUR PARKING LOT AT ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL.
