  2. About Jorn Utzon • Jorn Utzon was born on the 9th of April 1918 in Denmark. He died on the 29th November 2008. He designed the Sydney Opera House, the Bagsvaerd Church and many more buildings. He was married. He was married to Liz Fenger and had 2 sons, who were both architects and 1 daughter who designed the textiles for the inside of the Bagvaerd Church

  3. What happened during his life? • In 1948 Jorn travelled to Paris where he met Fernand Leger, Le Corbusier and Henri Laurens who taught Jorn about form. • He intended to join the navy, but did not have the requires qualification.

  4. More about his life……… • He abandoned the Sydney Opera House before it was completed. • He built his own house in 1952 in • Hellebaek. • In 1978 he was awarded a Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects.

  5. What did he say?!?! • On accepting the gold medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects he said: “If there was a tiny scar on my soul from the Sydney tragedy it is hereby completely removed.”

  6. Where did he die and when? • Utzon died from a heart attack in his sleep early on the 29th of November in Denmark He was surrounded by his family members.
