Hazard Classification • Provides specific criteria for classification of health and physical hazards, as well as classification of mixtures • Physical Hazards • The properties of a gas, liquid or solid • 16 classes of physical hazards • Health Hazards • Determined by the properties of a substance or mixture • 10 classes of health hazards

In-house Labels (aka Secondary Labels) • In-house labeling must be consistent with the new format and label elements. • Product identifier and • Words, • Pictures, • Symbols, or • Combination • to provide general information on the hazards • Original label • OR • Hazard classification system must be consistent with updated GHS

  8. MSDS — Now Known as Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

  9. 16-Section Safety Data Sheet • Identification of the substanceor mixture and of the supplier • Hazards identification • Composition/information on ingredients Substance/Mixture • First aid measures • Firefighting measures • Accidental release measures • Handling and storage • Exposure controls/personal protection • Physical and chemical properties • Stability and reactivity • Toxicological • Ecological information(non mandatory) • Disposal considerations(non mandatory) • Transport information(non mandatory) • Regulatory information(non mandatory) • Other information including information on preparation and revision of the SDS
