  1. Remember, if you were absent see me for what you missed…. Bell Ringer – 8/20 (You’re NOW being graded on these!) Also, you should still answer the Bell Ringers – ask a friend to help you if you were absent. It’s still a very helpful review! • TABLET/Smart Phone • m.socrative.com – Room 38178 • NO TABLET (or not working) • There are Bell Ringers cards on the table in the fourth box. Take 1 and answer the question on there (make sure you put your name and date!) • You do NOT need to copy the question. • Turn it in to the class box. • QUESTIONS: Fill in the blank (multiple choice on devices) • 1. Red, Yellow, and Blue are _____________ colors. • 2. ______________ is how light or dark, also called tone. • 3. ______________ space is taken up by the subject.

  2. Elements of Art Activity Can we demonstrate them? Instructions, Example, & Rubric

  3. Elements of Art - Activity • Today you will demonstrate that you understand the Elements of Art by CREATING them. • You will receive a worksheet with multiple boxes on it (front AND back.) • In each box, create a piece of artwork that represents the element listed OBVIOUSLY. • No two student’s artwork should be the same. Be creative!! • You will have all class period to complete your artwork. • Once finished, turn it into the box. • If you don’t finish, it’s homework (due tomorrow.) • If done WELL you’ll probably have a couple boxes left to do for homework!! • Markers and color pencils are available on the table for you to use.

  4. Examples Value (color) Line Shape (Geometric) Value requires you to create an image using only ONE color (but multiple shades of that color.) Colored pencils work great. Though there are several more geometric shapes to include, this is a creative way to place them. This artwork clearly displays straight, curvy, and zig-zag lines all throughout.

  5. Your Grade • This handout is HALF of your first project grade • We will do the other half of this project on Thursday • Remember: Projects are multi-day assignments and 25% of your grade • No presentation with this one though. • Each box will be graded on... • Does the artwork appropriately represent the element listed? (5 points) • Does the artwork fill up the entire box? (3 points) • Is the artwork creative? (2 points) • 10 points per box + 5 points for overall neatness = total score out of 125 • Thursday’s assignment will be similar, but different...

  6. Get to Work! • NO DEVICES unless… • You may listen to MUSIC on headphones. You should NOT be browsing the Internet, checking Facebook, playing games, etc. JUST MUSIC. • Once you’re finished with ALL THE BOXES you may work on other homework or use your devices for more than music • If you rush through it, you will receive another paper and be asked to try again • Make them neat, clear, and colorful!!! Each box should be it’s own little work of art 
