  1. Importance of Soldering Equipment & Hot Air (How to achieve a perfect solder joint) The importance of solder cannot be underestmated in the electronics and telecommunicatons industry. It is, in fact, the basic element that forms a mechanical bond between electronics components and the printed circuit board. This joint keeps all the varied components in positon and assures good electrical contact. The joint thus formed needs to be free from defects such as cold solder and insufficient wetng. The best way to get ideal solder joints to have a temperature controlled soldering station that can melt solder at the ideal temperature. The perfect tp temperature heats up the solder joint and allows the solder to properly fow and form a perfect bond. A temperature controlled soldering staton keeps the tp at the exact temperature tolerances allowing perfect solder joint from the first untl the last solder joint. With the advent of SMT (surface mount technology) and advanced circuit miniaturizaton, a hot air rework station has become a necessity for repair and constructon of circuit boards. The rework statons employ hot air by directng the fow of air via a specialized nozzle specific to the component package being worked on. The air gun allows us to solder and repair even the most difficult surface mount devices such as a BGA (Ball grid array) packaged IC. Like the soldering statons, precision and reliability is a must when dealing with such components. Accurate temperature control, airfow parameters and correct air nozzle selecton is necessary to form a perfect solder bond between these surface mount components and the PCB.
