  2. The importance of words • Matthew 12:34-37 • These 3 words: • Avoid responsibility when action is necessary. • Substitute for specifics when specifics are needed. • Leave a matter open-ended when a time frame is required.

  3. Someone… • Someone should do something about that… • Someone should step up and fix that… • Someone should say something to so and so about that… • What someone means in anybody but me.

  4. Someone… • What if the Good Samaritan had said, “someone should…” • Luke 10:30-32 • What if Paul had said, “someone should say something to Peter…” • Galatians 2:11-13 • What is Jesus had said, “Someone should go be a sacrifice for sin…” • Luke 19:10

  5. Someone… • Isaiah 6:8 • Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: • “Whom shall I send,And who will go for Us?” • Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

  6. Something… • “We need to do something about that.” • “I need to do something about that.” • It’s good to recognize a problem, but if we don’t determine what to do about it, what have we accomplished?

  7. Something… • Philippians 3:7-11 • I need to know the Bible better. I should do something about that. • 2 Timothy 2:15, 1 Timothy 4:13 • Something needs to be done about the lack of growth. • 2 Timothy 4:2, Acts 8:4, 1 Peter 3:15 • I need to do something about my temper and sharp tongue. • James 1:19-20, Ephesians 4:26

  8. Someday… Someday means never. • Someday I will read my Bible through in a year. • Someday I will invite my neighbor to visit the church. • Someday I will study the Bible with my kids. • Someday I will break that bad habit. • Someday I will become a faithful Christian.

  9. Someday… • Acts 24:25 Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.” • SMART Goals • Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely

  10. Somebody, Something, Someday • Somebody = Me (2 Corinthians 5:10) • Something = Specific action (2 Timothy 3:17) • Someday = Timely action (2 Corinthians 6:2)

  11. Be Saved Tonight! • Believe – John 8:24 • Confess – Matthew 10:32-33 • Repent – Luke 13:3 • Be baptized – Mark 16:16 • Be faithful – Revelation 2:10
