Our Officers and volunteers are working very hard to make our Post a better place. Please come in and see what’s new and support your Post. Elections will be at the general membership meeting in June – Marsha Martin To all of our wonderful mothers: Happy Mother’s Day 1st Vice Commander We have had 1138 members pay their dues, which gives us an attained percentage of 97.3%. We need 38 members to pay their dues to reach 100%. Our next Department of Florida Goal is 100%, which is needed by May 7, 2010. I know we can do it. The Adjutant has put on the board in the Lounge the count down numbers needed to reach 100%. Please welcome our new members: Jennifer Driesslien, Robert Swain, Alex Barber, Marvin Nuis and New Transfers into Post 240: Richard Murphy, Peggy Lambertus, Leo Litowich and David Markham. On Saturday April 17 we conducted our first Post Clean Up Day. It was a great success thanks to the 15 Post Members, 5 Ladies Auxiliary, 1 SAL, and 10 Active Duty Sailors. Thanks to Bill Flietz for cooking Dogs and Burgers for the workers. My special Thanks goes out to Mike Hertzler for getting 10 of his Active Duty Sailors to help out. Without these young energetic Sailors us old people would still be painting, weeding, and cleaning up the Post. Thanks to everyone that helped. The Post looks the best it has in a long time. Don’t forget the Post Officer nominations are going on now. Please come out and support your Post and Lounge. We, the Post Officers can’t do anything for the Post or the Veterans without your support and help. For God and Country Jimmy Lee Martin Auxiliary President: Hello Ladies: It’s that time of year again. Elections of Unit Officers for 2010 - 2011 will be held at the June General meeting. Want to run for an office, or know someone you would like to see as a Unit Officer? Nominations being accepted now and from the floor election night. Want to have a say in what your Unit is doing, take an office. If you can’t do that, be sure and vote for someone you think is capable. Above all be there and VOTE. May 22nd is POPPY DAY! Paula Reimer our Poppy Chairwoman is working hard to make it a success. Want to help? Contact Paula. All donations go to support our vets. Your Unit donated to the following charities last month: $1000 to Post 240, $50 to Escambia Animal Shelter and $50 to Hospice. Cake raffles and Lounge Bingo are doing great. Thanks to all the volunteers who keep them going. Get well soon to Ethel Phillips and good luck to Joy Zolomey with her eye surgery. See you all at the next meeting.
