Exploring Public Perceptions on Biofuels and Energy Independence: Key CNS-BDI Results

This report presents findings from the CNS-BDI focus group regarding public perceptions of biofuels and energy independence. Key results indicate an extremely high interest in biofuels, with many participants emphasizing energy independence as the most important benefit. While there is acceptance of GMOs in biofuels, participants expressed strong opposition to GMOs in food. A significant level of mistrust towards oil companies was evident, alongside high trust in science and technology. The discussion also touched on who should fund research, highlighting the need for a democratically-set research agenda.
