  2. Writing Routines #1 • Write on every other line. • WHY? • Allows room for making changes.

  3. Writing Routines #2 • Write only on one side of the paper. • WHY? • Allows for cutting, pasting and easy movement of pages.

  4. Writing Routines #3 • Date everything. • WHY? • Shows writing history and progress.

  5. Writing Routines #4 • Save everything. • WHY? • Shows drafts and revisions.

  6. Writing Routines #5 • Cross out changes. • WHY? • Makes changes visible. Erasing removes changes permanently.

  7. Writing Routines #6 • Jot down any special information from the teacher to help you in your content or editing conference. • WHY? • Puts responsibility on you, the student, to develop as a writer and a lifelong learner.

  8. Writing Routines #7 • Fill out “Daily Record” form at end of writing workshop. • WHY? • Keeps track of your daily work.

  9. Writing Routines #8 • Keep “Student Writing Record” form up to date. • WHY? • Shows your writing history and promotes future goal setting.

  10. Writing Routines #9 • Be cooperative in class and work with each other to make the writing workshop a quiet place to learn and grow!
