Parachute Terminal Velocity • Set up the motion detector on the floor • Turn on the CBL • Select apps • Select Easy Data • Distance vs. Time should appear • One person presses start • 2nd person holds parachutist by the folds, two meters above the sensor and listens for clicks • Drop parachutist above the screen of the motion detector • Press stop as soon as the parachutist lands

Analyze • Press analyze • Press select region • Use cursor to select the area of freefall using the arrow button (left and right boundaries) • With new graph select the X1 and Y1 values at the top of the slope and the X2 and Y2 values at the bottom. Write these values down • Calculate the slope (Y2-Y1/X2-X1) This is your terminal velocity in m/s. Be ready to compare to class results.
