  1. SANDY COVE ECHO BRINGING NEWS TO THE COAST! JUNE 3rd 2014 PRICELESS JEWELS FOUND BY SCHOOLBOY DETECTIVES! Yesterday afternoon, local schoolboys unearthed the missing Dewinter jewels, at Smugglers’ Rock, on Sandy Cove’s beach. Heart of the Ocean Amongst Rockpool Treasure! Ryan Gardner and Ethan Rachael, Year 5 pupils at Watermoor School, were rockpooling at Smugglers’ Rock on Saturday, when they discovered an unusual, plastic package in one of the pools. On opening, the boys were amazed to find that it contained over 20 jewels, including several emeralds, rubies and a rare African diamond, nicknamed ‘the Heart of the Ocean’. However, the boys were then chased by a scruffy, old man and his wolf-like dog into a cave. Terrified, cold and hungry, they hid in the pitch-black, for nearly 4 hours, before daring to return home with their treasure! Last night, Sandy Cove’s Detective Superintendent, Bob Jones, stated that the jewels were identical to those taken during the Dewinter burglary, at Ocean View, on Friday night. Their only clue had been the footprint of a large dog! Dewinter jewels recovered. What a relief! Mrs. Dewinter, who has lived in Sandy Cove all her life, commented, “I was so relieved to hear that my Great-Grandmother’s jewels had been found. They have been a part of the Dewinter family for generations!” Worried mother, Mrs. Gardner, expressed, “I couldn’t believe it when Ryan showed me the jewels! We are so proud of our young hero!” Beach Warning The Police are warning all residents to stay away from Smugglers’ Rock and a photofit of a bearded, elderly man has now been released. Reporter: A.
