  1. Week Beginning Monday 6th January 2014 The Baptism of the Lord “Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.” Matthew 3:13

  2. Tuesday 7th January 2014 Why would John have felt uncomfortable baptising Jesus? What does Jesus’ baptism tell us about his character – was he a proud and arrogant leader? Why was it important for Jesus to be baptised? What does this quote mean to you: “Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfil all righteousness.” Then John consented.” Matthew 3: 13

  3. Let us pray: Open the heavens, almighty Father, and pour out your Spirit upon your people.Renew the power of our baptismal cleansing and fill us with zeal for good deeds.Let us hear your voice once again, that we may recognize in your beloved Son our hope of inheriting eternal life.Grant this through JesusChrist, your Word made flesh, who lives and reigns with youin the unity of the Holy Spirit,in the splendour of eternal light,God for ever and ever. Amen.
