Caregiver Toolkit Sessions:Informing various sectors • February 13-17th 2012 • Series of information sessions for: Government/Civil servants Stakeholders Academics/Researchers/Students Interested Citizens Nursing Home Reps. and Decision Makers Total participants: 150 +
Caregiver Toolkit Sessions:Process The AIA’s interest in the Caregiver Toolkit • Toolkit enables holistic policy development • Info sessions enabled knowledge transfer across sectors Recruiting participants • By invitation; sent by email to existing AIA contacts • Encouraged contacts to invite others Attendance • Well attended, would have liked more students /academics/researchers

Our Results:A Snapshot Ideas were clearly presented………. 9/10 Overall presentation of Toolkit……… 9/10 Service Provider Resource Guide: Marginally greater interest in content and usage than Caregiver Policy Lens
Our Results.. Continued • Most felt the content of the Caregiver Lens and the Service Provider Resource Guide were very useful • Service Provider Resource Guide: higher scores for both usefulness of content and level of interest for practical utilization • A number of participants working in long term care (nursing homes) were unsure about how to apply the Caregiver Lens in their organization
Our Results…Continued • Questions around where to begin: • “So much information- I will need to take a good look at it and see how this can be used in my daily practice” • Opportunites: • “Excellent resources for future consideration. It would be great to have all collaboration of departments.”
Knowledge Transfer:Benefits AIA built capacity by… • …gaining a better understanding of how different sectors receive and interpret information • …becoming more aware of which sectors/organizations/people desire policy and program development resources • …becoming better able to gauge what knowledge/info various sectors want
Knowledge Transfer in the future… • Improve clarity about practical application. • Tailor info sessions for specific audiences. • Provide examples of past applications. • Facilitate application of transferred knowledge • Provide guidance about how to implement/use Toolkit. • Connect current uses with prospective users.
