Healthy relationships • Relationship: bond or connection you have with other people • Family • Immediate and extended • Friendship • Significant relationship between two people that is based on caring, trust, and consideration • Community • Citizenship: way you conduct yourself as a member of the community • GROUP DISCUSSION: • 1) What is the importance of each relationship? What are some negatives with each relationship? • What are benefits of spending time alone?

  3. Roles with Peers, family, & friends • List all the roles you play in the different relationships you have in a week. • Are they the same or changing? • What does your behavior look like?

  4. Building Healthy Relationships 3 C’s of Building: • Communication—way of sending a message • Cooperation—working together for the good of all • Compromise—problem-solving method that involves each participant

Characteristics • Mutual Respect & Consideration • Accepting of one’s tastes and opinions; tolerant of other viewpoints • Honesty • Open and honest about actions, thoughts, and feelings • Dependability • Trustworthy and reliable • Commitment • Willing to work together and make sacrifices • Loyal to each other • Committed to strengthening the relationship
