  4. Scheduling Procedures • Students will be called to guidance by last name beginning April 17th. • Students who do not have a COMPLETED scheduling form will not be permitted to choose their classes until all other students are scheduled.

  5. Honors Procedures • All students wishing to be enrolled in an Honors/AP class must fill out an application which will be reviewed by a panel of teachers. • Applications are subject specific. A separate application must be completed for each course. • Any student not accepted into an Honors class will automatically be placed into an academic section. APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday, April 21st

  6. Course Weighting System AP*/STEM – 1.08 Dual Enrollment/ Honors – 1.04 *Students who enroll in an AP course will be REQUIRED to participate in the AP exam to receive the 1.08 weight.

DUAL ENROLLMENT • What is Dual Enrollment? • Earn college credits while still in high school • Eligibility Requirements • 93 or better average • Less than 15 days of absence during previous school year. • Scheduling Requirements • Must complete full high school schedule • Tuition • Discounted tuition rate

APCapstone Diploma • All BHS STEM students will automatically be eligible to earn an AP Capstone Diploma • Non-STEM students may still earn a Capstone Diploma so long as you complete: • AP Seminar (score of 3 or higher) • AP Research (score of 3 or higher) • Enroll in 6 other AP courses throughout your high school career • Earn a 3 or better on 4 out of the 6 courses

AP Seminar • A team-based presentation/defense derived from individual student-generated written research. • An individual presentation/defense derived from individual student-generated written research. • An end-of-course College Board-created AP Exam focused on analyzing and creating evidence based arguments. • A “My Future” project to help you design your educational path and future career.

APResearch • Each student will create an individual research proposal. • Student’s research will be culminated in a 4,000-5,000 word written essay. • Student’s research will be shown in a 15-20-minute multimedia presentation, with a short defense from a panel of evaluators. • Students will reflect and report on all job shadowing experiences

BHS STEM • The most rigorous educational path BHS has to offer • Provides opportunity to research, study, and job shadow future career interests • Designed to provide you with a post-BHS “educational game plan” to get you to your future dream career • 6 AP Science and Math Courses • AP Seminar & AP Research (Junior and senior year English courses)

  12. BHS STEM Prerequisites Freshmen year: Algebra II Geometry Integrated Science Sophomore year: Advanced Math (H) Chemistry I (H) AP Physics I Students may also be eligible for the STEM program if approved by the High School Principal.

  14. STEEM – Bloomsburg University The STEEM Magnet Program allows high-achieving high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to get a head start on a college career in the STEEM disciplines. The program offers a choice in four areas of focus: technology, engineering, education, or health sciences. It also gives students interested in math or other sciences the tools needed to be successful in college.

Requirements to Participate STEEM – Bloomsburg University • Application submitted during sophomore year from student at participating school partner. • Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and two years of science completed prior to starting. • Positive recommendation from science or math teacher. • Minimum attendance record of 95%.

STEEM – Bloomsburg University Requirements of Program • Two-year commitment to the program. • Three-day (non-consecutive) commitment during each summer. • Enrollment in Bloomsburg University courses. • Total willingness to learn and participate. • Compliance with Bloomsburg University policies.
