  1. Is when a species adapts to an environment over a period of time -MR Evolution

  2. Lamarck vs. Darwin- MR • Lamarck and Darwin are both renown scientists but they have different theories.

  3. Lamarck’s Theory -WA • He said that change occurs over time. • If the body was used, then it gets stronger. He thought that if a giraffe’s neck stretched, it would get longer. • He was wrong, he didn’t know that the traits were inherited. • Change comes when an organism is born

  4. Darwin’s Theory -WA • He believed that food and resources are limited. • He also said that many organisms fight in the body to survive. • He believed evolution existed. • He was correct.

  5. Natural Selection -NM • Selection occurs from many factors. • Resource limitation • Predation • Industry • Social influence

  6. Evidence of Evolution -NM • Many different animals and plants adapted to their environment. • For example seals store fat to maintain heat since they live in colder regions.

  7. Selective vs. Natural Breeding -DW • Selective Breeding is when a human interferes with a breeding of an animal or a plant. • Natural Breeding is when an animal or plant breeds without any interference. • Dogs are a result of selective breeding. • Animal do not do this intentionally humans make them mate.

  8. Evolution fact vs. fiction -DW • Natural selection isn’t a perfect process. • A organism doest always evolve into a perfect species, they just evolve into what allows them to survive • For example cave fish are born without eyes, which takes away sight. They use sonar to navigate the caves.
