  2. Audience for PSW Course • High School Diploma or Equivalent • Age must be 18 years or above • English Proficiency ( IELTS/CELPIP/Other English Tests or OSSD Equivalent)

About Personal Support Worker Diploma Program The Personal Support Worker diploma prepares you with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide compassionate care when assisting patients, clients and residents with broad-spectrum conditions and health care needs, to enable them to lead active and fulfilling lives in the community and institutions, both here and abroad. This one-year certificate program is designed to teach you how to effectively provide care and assistance to clients and families in order to live fulfilling lives in their communities and in institutions. As a student of this program, you will develop a broad range of abilities emphasizing value, true sensitivity and respect for the individuality of each client.

Curriculum • PSW Foundations • Body Systems • Abuse and Neglect • Care Planning/Restorative care/Documentation/Working in the community • Assisting the Dying Person • Cognitive and Mental Health Issues and Brain Injuries • Clinical Placement (Community) • Safety and Mobility • Assisting with Personal Hygiene • Household Management, Nutrition and Hydration • Assisting the Family, Growth and Development • Assisting with Medications • Health Conditions • Clinical Placement (Facility)

  6. 390 hours Theory Length 200 hours Clinical Placement (Long-Term Care Facility) 110 hours Clinical Placement (Community) 700 hours Total Length (35 weeks i.e. 2 Sem)
