  2. The Current Scenario: 1. Header not clear; libraries or giving? 2. Central focus on branches 3. Links are small; navigation not clear 4. Links repeat & out of order; graphic unclear

  3. Our Analysis: Potential User Audit: Ten university employees were asked to review the Library’s giving page and comment on presentation, navigation, and organization. “What would normally pull me in is what my donation would do for the library. The goal is absent from this page. It’s disjointed and I’m not sure what the purpose of the page is.”

  4. Potential User Analysis: • Nine out of ten people could not easily locate the navigation bar. In fact, more than 50 percent of the volunteers claimed the page has no navigation bar. • Nine out of ten people thought it was a page for the MSU library branches because of the photo in the center of the page. • When clicking on “give to the MSU Library” from the library home page, they were confused by the opening giving page because the title bar still said “MSU Library.”

  5. Our Goals: • Give page a central focus • Standardized navigation on Main Page and all sub pages • Organize information for easier use Examples Sites: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign(Central Focus) Purdue University(Consistent Navigation & Organization)

  6. Mock Page: • Friends of MSU Libraries is central focus visually and textually • Navigation is recognizable & consistent on all pages • Information is sorted and organized in a clear, consistent manner; doesn’t overwhelm user

  7. Navigation & Information Organization: • Why Donate: • How donations help the libraries • Notable past gifts • Benefits of Donation: • Membership Levels • Tax Advantages • Friends Membership Benefits • Events: • List of current library events • Information on special past events (Dinner honoring Dr. Chapin) • How to Donate: • Gifts of Cash • Gifts of Collections • Endowments • Planned Gifts • Online form • Adopt a Book • Library Designations • Adopt a Book: • Saving Literary Heritage • Addressing an Urgent Need • How to Help • Recognition of Generosity

  8. Unresolved Issues: • Need for an FAQ? • Capital Campaign/University Development Link? • Link to Library Branches?
