  4. What special line of latitude is on the globe? • The equator is a very important latitude line. • It measures 0 degrees • Very hot! • Splits Northern and Southern parts of the globe, or hemispheres.

  5. A Little Latitude Fact • Australia is at a lower latitude, and they have their winter when it is summer here in the United States.

  6. What special line of longitude is on the globe? • Prime Meridian • It cuts the globe into two equal halves, like the equator.

  7. Lovely Longitude Facts • The other side of the Prime Meridian, unlike the equator, is not all the way around. The other side is called the international date line.
