Update on Chromosome 3

This report details the latest findings in the sequencing and physical mapping of chromosome 3, conducted by the Mingsheng Chen Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology. As of January 13, 2008, the sequence of 14 BACs has been completed, with funding allocated to sequence an additional 200 BACs. FISH analysis has clarified euchromatin and heterochromatin regions and helped identify seed BACs. The resulting physical map includes 29 contigs covering 10 Mb of euchromatic regions, advancing our understanding of tomato genetics.
