  2. Self-Esteem • Refers to how much you respect yourself and like yourself

  3. How Self-Esteem Develops • Self esteem is not a constant. It increases and decreases with life experiences. • On average, self-esteem drops early adolescence, increases gradually during adulthood, and decreases again toward the end of life.

  4. Improving Your Self-Esteem • Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses • Set ambitious, but realistic goals for yourself • Do not be too hard on yourself • Rely on your values • Learn to accept your compliments • Look beyond your own concerns • Do not focus too much on appearance
