Initial Development of an Aeronautical Design Standard for Verification and Validation of Military Helicopter Simulators • Subcontract to Advanced Rotorcraft Technology • Sponsored by US Army RDEC, Huntsville (Kris Strope) • Assemble draft ADS by the end of 2005 • Emphasize frequency-domain matching • Specify matches for math model, visual, motion, feel system • Define requirements for proof of match report • Identify follow-on testing • Replicate Army UH-60 flight tests on ART simulator • Possibly replicate Navy SH-60 testing on Navy simulator • Replicate simulator studies on Canadian NAE helicopter? AED – AFDD – ART – HAI – NAVAIR

Pilot Behavioral Modelingfor Flight Operations Near Ships • Subcontract to Robert Heffley Engineering • Phase II SBIR from NAVAIR Pax River (Susan Polsky) • Other subcontractors are Simon Bourne and Ron Hess • Develop Task-Pilot-Vehicle (TPV) models for shipboard launch and recovery • Fixed-wing airplane, helicopter, tiltrotor • Eventually evaluate TPV in different ship airwake models • HAI is assisting with task development

  4. Helicopter Stabilization and Autopilot System • HeliSAS flying on company Robinson R44 • Two-axis autopilot with GPS/ILS Navigation • FAA certification in process

Other Recent and Ongoing Work • Fixed-Wing Airplanes: • HUD flight director support for BAE Systems • Flight director support for FedEx • S&C support for Toyota Advanced Aircraft Co. • V/STOLs and Rotorcraft: • V-22 work for NAVAIR • Flying qualities and flight controls assessment • Flight director testing • Helicopter flying qualities work for Army AFDD • Control law upgrade for CH-47 • Flight test guide for ADS-33
