  2. LAB!!!!! • Lab experiences are an important part of science curriculum. It is important to ensure the safety of the students in the classroom by making sure each student knows general safety rules and guidelines. Students who cannot properly follow safety rules will not be allowed to participate in lab activities and will not receive credit for the lab activities missed.

  3. #1 MOST IMPORTANT RULE!!! • FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS; WRITTEN AND SPOKEN!!!

  4. SAFETY IS IMPORTANT!! • Wear appropriate safety equipment when needed. • Know the location and proper usage of safety equipment. • Be alert and walk with care during lab activities. • Never work in the lab alone. • Tie back long hair. No dangling jewelry, scarves, etc.

  5. LAB ACTIVITIES ROCK!!!! • Be prepared for the lab. ASK if you do not understand how to do something. • Read and double check chemical labels. • Do NOT perform or change experiments without permission. • Do NOT eat, CHEW GUM, or drink in the lab. • Do not point heated substances at others.

  6. PIRATES KEEP THE LAB SAFE • Dispose of chemicals as instructed; take only the amount needed. • Report ALL accidents to your teacher immediately. • Do NOT taste, touch, or breathe in chemicals. • Keep work area clean and neat. • NO HORSEPLAY!!!!

  7. READY, RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE! • Wash hands after lab activities. • Do NOT remove any materials from the classroom.
