Survivors Struggle Ashore to Anatahan -The 31 Japanese men: navy seamen, army privates, and four merchant ship captains, are met by: -KikuichiroHiga, the Japanese assistant island manager, and one Japanese woman, Kazuko Higa. -45 native Carolinians were also on the island.
