  2. Workbook p. 3 INTRODUCTION Today we will be… Shining The Light On Five Leadership Traits that “Great” Leaders Consistently Reflect In Their Leadership Style. Reflecting On Where You Are In Relationship To The Five Key Leadership Traits.

  3. “Remember The Titans”

  4. Workbook p. 4 Leadership Greatness for His Kingdom comes from… “Leadership is probably the most misunderstood word in our vocabulary today. Leadership is not personality, not a position, not endowed to a certain few. Leadership is that certain something that is ‘bought with a price.’ It is bought with a price that can be paid by anyone, anytime, anywhere and YOU are as much a leader today as you are going to be, because the price you are paying today is determining the leader you will be tomorrow. Everyone has an obligation, as well as the privilege, of leading in something. Leadership begins with a simple decision to pay the price and ends the moment you cease to pay it.” Charles T. Jones

  5. Workbook p. 5 Leadership Greatness Jesus Anointed at Bethany Mark 14: 3,9 During supper, a woman came in with a jar of expensive perfume. She broke the seal and poured the perfume over His head. Wherever the Good News is preached, this woman’s deed will be talked about in her memory.

  6. Workbook p. 5 Leadership Greatness John The Baptist John 3:30, Luke 7:28 He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. I tell you, among those born of women there is no greater than John.

  7. Workbook p. 5 Leadership Greatness David Psalm 78:72; I Samuel 16:7 He cared for them with a true heart, and led them with skillful hands. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.

  8. Follow the Leader

  9. L E A D E R S H I P G R E A T N E S S Through Workbook p. 6 ANSWERING HIS CALL “So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son…and went to the place of which God had told him.” Genesis 22:3

  10. Workbook p. 7 Answer His Call “Calling… is God’s invitation to join Him in accomplishing His purpose through each of us.” – Henry Blackaby It is a unique and individually based invitation that is… Personally Addressed, Personally Written, Personally Delivered

  11. Answering His Call Abraham…Genesis 12:1-4 Moses…Exodus 3:1-4:18 Mary…Luke 1:26-38 Peter…Matthew 4:18-20 Paul…Acts 9:1-18 Just as God called these heroes of the faith by name, He has called you by name.

  12. Workbook p. 8 Person – His Son As a leader within the body of believers, our primary calling is by Him, to Him, and for Him. Colossians 2:6-7 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught and overflowing with thankfulness.

  13. What’s in a Calling? His Calling, To His Leaders Is First To A…

  14. Workbook p. 8 Purpose - His Agenda We are called to serve God’s purpose. Scripture clearly links our calling with God’s purpose. II Timothy 1:8-9 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord . . . who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace…

  15. Workbook p. 9 Passion – His desire in your heart You can measure your connectivity to God’s calling by its link to your passions. • God has uniquely called you to accomplish a unique task. • You can be passionate while not enjoyingeverything aboutyour assigned task. • But if God has calledyou to it… and you do ityou will have a passion for it.

  16. Workbook p. 9 Path – His map for your journey • Calling is unique…and His path for you includes the preparation needed to succeed in your unique calling. • God’s calling will always push you beyond your comfort zone. • What we learn and how we grow can be a tool in our hands to distract us from answering our calling… or a tool in God’s hand to equip us for our calling.

  17. Workbook p. 10 Position – His roles in your life God places each of us in leadership roles within and for His kingdom. Your role in your family… Your role in your ministry… Your role in your community… If you are faithful with His current assignments for you, He will trust you with future assignments.

  18. Workbook p. 10 What’s in a calling? We are called… to a person (Jesus), for a purpose (God’s), with a passion (He provides), down a path (He directs), in positions (He assigns).

  19. Answer His Call How do you know His calling on your life at this moment?

  20. Workbook p. 11 Answer His Call 1) God confirms your calling through His Son, His Spirit, and His Word. 2) God gives you a passion for your calling. 3) God uses those who know you best to confirm your calling. 4) God reveals your calling to you through a specific and individual assignment.

  21. Workbook p. 11 Centered in His Calling How do you know if you are centered in His calling?

  22. Workbook p. 12 Centered in His Calling 1) Your calling will create an openness on your part to allow God to move you from where you are to where He wants you to be. 2) Your calling will also involve moving people from where they are to where God wants them to be.

  23. Workbook p. 12&13 Centered in His Calling 3) You will be completely dependent upon God. 4) You will discover a peace that can overcome the frustration found in ministering to difficult people and ministering in difficult circumstances. When you are on God’s agenda, you will passionately desire to minister not passionately desire a ministry.

  24. Workbook p. 13 Centered in His Calling 5) You will find yourself looking to God and to godly people for counsel and direction. Leaders in the center of God’s calling seek to accomplish the goals and ambitions set by God, not their own goals and ambitions.

  25. “The Rookie”

  26. L E A D E R S H I P G R E A T N E S S Through Workbook p. 16 Contentment “…for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances…I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation…I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”Philippians 4:11-13

  27. Workbook p. 17 Contentment External Sources Climbing

  28. Workbook p. 17 External Sources “Contentment is a decision, an act of the will, grounded in the grace of God.” -Abraham Lincoln • When I am restless, I create an atmosphere of confusion. • “God is not the author of confusion” Climbing • When I am self-driven, I use people to accomplish and receive their applause and approval. • “God desires our hearts…hearts of personal obedience” • When I am focused on performance, I often measure my success in human form and crave human approval. • “God is not measuring • your success through • someone else”

  29. Climbing The more obedient we are with what we are given, the greater testimony God creates through us.

  30. Workbook p. 19 External Sources Desire for position… Matthew 20:20-28 Desire for prominence… Matthew 23:11-12 Desire for possessions… Ecclesiastes 5:10 Climbing Jesus desires us to be ambitious in accomplishing His purpose, not ours.
