  1. The Robot Fighters (LM13) Group Members: Enoch Cheung, James Chong, Horace Wong, Sam Cheung, Thomas Lim

  2. Our Robot: RF Attacker As the familiar roar of the motors can be clearly heard, the RF Attacker has set off for another battle. Soon, the cheers of the crowd gets louder and louder to celebrate the victory of our robot. The tough robot took six hours to build and three to test, with many components and a lot of effort from us. It is named RF Attacker because it was a active attacker, trying to grip the opponent and push it off.

  3. The Robot’s components • The robot is composed of an ultrasonic sensor, a sound sensor, a touch sensor and a light sensor. The robot is programmed to lurch backward when the light sensor ‘sees’ the boundary. It also has two strong claws that is designed to grip onto the opponent. The bumper is designed to make the touch sensor trigger the claws. The ultrasonic sensor is used to detect the opponent. The sound sensor is for detecting the direction of the enemy.

  5. The Competition Rules Each team sends out a robot into a battle ground. The first robot to be pushed out loses. In the competition, we won two matches, drawed in five and lost in one (it was a paper-scissor-stone game to end the draws)

  13. The fierce match • The match between our group and group 14 was a fierce one. In the first match, they activated the program slower than us. The match was a draw. In the second match, one of the members stretched her foot and altered the direction of their robot. It was also a draw. The other three matches were draws too, and although there were disagreeing voices, the instructors asked us to use paper-scissor-stone to see who could enter the final rounds. We lost that match.

  14. Feelings • James: I think this group has done a good job in building and designing the robot and software. We were also cooperative. Although we ended up being the second runner-up, I feel we have done our best.

  15. Feelings • Sam:I have enjoyed this activity very much. I feel happy because we have got the third place. I hope I participate in this activity again. • Horace: I love this activity very much and hope to participate again. I enjoyed the process of making the robot.

  16. Feelings • Enoch: I am interested in this activity. I think that our group has done a great job in building the robot. I think although there were some arguments, we were cooperative in the end.
