On October 12, 1492, I, Harley, pen a letter to my beloved family after a long and tumultuous journey across the sea. We've finally reached an island called Guanahani, which Christopher Columbus has named San Salvador. The journey has been challenging, filled with seasickness, yet discovering vibrant green landscapes and exotic wildlife like parrots brings me joy. We've traded with the local Tainos, exchanging glass beads for cotton, spears, and more. I eagerly await the day I can reunite with you all!

12 October, 1492 Dearest Family, I have been traveling a very long time. I also have been getting sea sick for a long time. We arrived on an island. It is called Guanahani. Christopher Columbus changed the island to San Sal Vador. We traded with unusual people called Tainos. I have seen weird birds called parrots. We traded glass beads and red caps and in return we got parrots, balls of cotton thread, spears and many other things. Also the boat I am traveling on is called Santa Maria, and the captain is Christopher Columbus. This island is really green, almost every thing here is green. The first day I saw land I was so happy to see it! I was also happy to see the sun light on the beautiful horizon. I hope to see you soon.Sincerely, Harley
