  5. Declaration of Human Rights- 1948 Basic view of Human Rights Eleanor Roosevelt helped write Declaration A standard for countries, not legally binding Human Rights and the U.N.

  6. Other U.N. Duties • Helps provide food, water, and other supplies to nations in need • Helps run elections for developing democracies- Afghanistan • International Criminal Tribunal- Rwanda and Yugoslavia • Food for Oil program= 1996-2003
