The Coastal Data Information Program (CDIP) operates over 50 active buoys providing reliable real-time data acquisition via Iridium. Updates are delivered every 30 minutes, encompassing bulk parameters, directional spectra, and surface displacements. The system offers continuous time series sampled at 1.28 Hz and includes statistical summaries. All historic data is archived and accessible. Designed for regional swell modeling, the network facilitates sea and swell model outputs for various harbors along the Southern California coast, enhancing marine forecasting and research efforts.
