  2. “Divisible by” means you can divide one number by another number and not have a remainder. Remainder

  3. 1 Every number is divisible by one. You will have a one on every list of factors!!!

  4. 2 Every even number is divisible by 2. Even numbers end with 2, 4, 6, 8, or 0. There will be a 2 on the factor list of every even number!!

  5. 3 Add up the digits in a number. If the sum is divisible by 3, then the whole number is divisible by 3. Example: 456 4+5+6=15. 15 is divisible by 3 so 456 is divisible by 3.

  6. 4 If the last two digits of a number are divisible by 4, then the whole number is divisible by 4. Example: 5,628 28 is divisible by 4 so 5,628 is divisible by 4.

  7. 5 If the last digit of a number is 5 or 0, then the whole number is divisible by 5. There will be a 5 on the factor list of every number ending in 5 or 0. Example: 75,230 there is a 0 at the end of the number so it is divisible by 5.

  8. 6 If the number is divisible by 2 AND 3, then it is also divisible by 6. If there is a 2 and a 3 on a factor list, there will also be a 6 on the list. Example: 1356 1356 is even, so there will be a 2 on the factor list. 1+3+5+6=15 and 15 is divisible by 3. 1356 is divisible by both 2 and 3, so it is also divisible by 6.

  9. 7 8 There are no easy divisibility rules for 7 and 8!!

  10. 9 Add up the digits in a number. If the sum is divisible by 9, then the whole number is divisible by 9. Example: 486 4+8+6=18. 18 is divisible by 9 so 486 is divisible by 9.

  11. 10 Wonderful 10 is the easiest of all. If the number ends in 0, then that number is divisible by 10. That means 10 is a factor of that number. Example: 15,760 ends with 0 so it is divisible by 10!
