  5. The effect of substituting different sugars for • glucose on the growth of two cell lines TM3 (testicular Leydig-derived) and TM4 (testicular Sertoli-derived). Idealized curves showing the effect of varying theconcentration of selected nutrients on cell growth. (A) A required nutrient with a broad optimum (e.g., leucine). (B) A required nutrient with a tight optimal range (e.g., KCL). (C) A nutrient with little effect when added alone.
