Boosting Student Achievement Through Academic Vocabulary Strategies in Math

This resource explores how building academic vocabulary enhances student achievement in math learning. It features engaging icebreaker activities like "Mystery Words," where partners guess vocabulary terms to foster collaboration. Drawing on Marzano’s research, it emphasizes that the more terms students know, the easier it becomes to understand new concepts. A variety of vocabulary acquisition and review strategies are provided, such as “Is/Is Not” exercises, charades, and concept circles, aimed at improving comprehension and retention in math subjects.
