  1. J. Cuevas, F. Matorras, J. Marco IFCA-U. Cantabria, U. Oviedo USE CASES for GENSER

  2. GENSER WP3 participation • Interest from our groups in participating and contributing to the generator services subproject, in particular to, • WP3 (common event files and event database) • Production framework • Production center • The effort will be mainly under the groups (IFCA/U. Oviedo) but, LCG Spain informed • As members of CMS, this has to be coordinated with production framework in CMS (F. Moortgat) • adoption of the scheme for DC05.

  3. Use cases more general for GENSER • Try to define within the context of GENSER a more detailed “Use cases”, • A final user wants to simulate a sample of events in a given physics channel (eg. Higgs) • He/she needs to know what generators are “certified” in the market (WP1) • What parameters are needed (WP?) • If there are samples already available for the channel • if so… • If not, generate a request • The events are produced and a handle is returned to the user • The user wants to check if the events generated make sense • The user wants to reuse the events • The user wants to extend the sample statistics

  4. Use cases for special users(*) • The user wants to share the sample with all experiments • Within WP3 • Whodefines the common events? • channels • format (is common to usual events) • certification process • naming • updates and versioning • explicit reproducibility • How they will be generated? • as usual? • in which sense? • (*) one in each experiment?

  5. A possible reorganization of WP3 • Name WP3 as Event files production and catalog • Section 1: Event Sample definition • Definition of event samples (channel, parameters, cuts, etc) • Description in a format such that can be put in a database • Section 2: Catalog • Section 3: Production Setup • How to pass parameters from the catalog to the generator? • Section 4: Production Center • How to run with the parameters previously defined • Returns statistics. • Section 5:Generated events database • Insert in a database the statistics, links, etc • Possibly a new table in the database already defined.

  6. Summary • Participation in WP3 by Spanish groups • Definition of a more general use cases for Genser • Use cases for special users (special users in each experiment) • Proposal for a small redefinition of some WP3 sections, and a new naming: from common event files and event database toEvent files production and catalog
