Are you able to put the time and effort into completing your education to have a successful future? Interest Are you interested in the careers & rewards that particular college graduates obtain?

  13. What the numbers say… 2 year colleges – 55.5% come back for the 2nd year. 4 year colleges – 65% come back for the 2nd year. 2 year colleges – 25.4% complete the program 4 year colleges - 36.6% complete the program

  15. How do you begin?…start asking questions! Admission requirements? Suggested ACT/SAT scores? programs/majors? climate? size? location? cost? reputation? teacher-student ratio? placement rate?

  18. Best way to determine which test is best for you - is to try them on and see how they “fit”. ACT SAT 2 million - Midwest, south Science reasoning test Math includes trigonometry Vocabulary less important Multiple-choice questions only English grammar tested 2.6 million - northeast, west coast No science test No trigonometry questions Vocabulary emphasized Multiple-choice & open-ended questions No English grammar

ACT / SAT *complete April or June of junior year *pick up information to complete on line in Career Center *include CPHS school code: 240419 ***choose 4 colleges to have score sent to *send scores to NCAA if playing sports *pay on line with a credit card *retest in fall if necessary *if you receive free/reduced lunch you can get 2 fee waivers

Junior Timeline Winter: Register for appropriate high school classes Register & study for ACT/SAT Continue to accumulate volunteer hours Identify priorities for attending colleges & gather information Start researching colleges and their admission requirements Participate in Career Tour Days Spring: Take college entrance exams Visit colleges Pull together scholarship information Complete NCAA forms Know what your transcript looks like Identify individuals for recommendations Summer: Start working on bio or personal data sheet: activities, sports, extra curricular, volunteer, work, awards, leadership Participate in summer enrichment activities Obtain a summer job that is related to your career interest Finalize personal data sheet
