  4. 1. What is an educational leader Element 7.1.4 – provision is made to ensure a suitably qualified and experienced educator or co-ordinator leads the development of the curriculum and ensures the establishment of clear goals and expectations for teaching and learning.

Educational leadership in practice Assessors may… OBSERVE DISCUSS SIGHT ..the educational leader working with other educators and co-ordinators to observe, support and extend children’s learning ..what strategies and processes the educational leader uses to lead the development of the curriculum and set goals for teaching and learning ..evidence of a curriculum at the service and the designation of the educational leader in the staff record

Educational leadership in practice • Ideas to support educators: • Find creative ways to bring everyone together • hold the next staff meeting outdoors or off-site • look at the service through the eyes of the children • Empower educators to support one another • ask educators to share their strengths with the group e.g. how would they handle a situation?
